Creating a program
A program defines the name, branding, region, balance limits, and card designs that your gift cards use. The setup is a short five-step wizard, and you'll create your first card design along the way.
1. Name & logo
Set the name and logo of your gift card program. Type your program name in the Program Name field — in this example we use Coffee House Gift Card. Upload a logo by clicking the logo box (use the trash icon to remove a logo you've added).
When you're happy with the name and logo, click Continue.
2. Region & currency
Choose the Country, Language, and Currency for your program. This affects the default language used in emails sent to customers and how value loaded onto gift card is denominated.
The country, language and currency are derived from the merchant account you used to created the gift card program with.
3. Balance limits
Set the limits that apply to gift cards in this program:
Maximum Balance — the largest balance a single gift card can hold.
Minimum Topup — the smallest amount a digital gift card can be purchased for in the online gift card checkout.
4. Card design
Every program needs at least one card design. On this step you'll see a Create a Card Design box. Click it to open the card design creator. (You can add more designs later, once your program is set up.)
4a. Choose a front design
The New Card Design creator opens with its own four-step flow on the left: Front Design, Back Design, Card Type, and Review.
On Front Design, pick a preset from the gallery or browse the Generic, Birthday, Congrats, Occasion, and Business categories. To use your own artwork, choose Custom and upload an image. The large preview at the top updates to show your selection. Click Next.
4b. Customize the back design
On Back Design, pick a layout and customize the back of the card. The back can include a QR code, your business name, address, contact details, a terms line, and the card number. Click any element on the canvas to select it, then drag to reposition or use the handles to resize. The Elements panel on the right lets you reorder, hide, delete, or add elements, and the Business Name / Address / Contact fields below let you edit the text. Click Next.
4c. Choose a card type
On Card Type, choose how the gift card value is set for this design:
Any Amount — the gift card can be loaded with an amount chosen by the purchaser.
Fixed Amount — the gift card is sold for a specific amount. This is a good option when selling gift certificates for a particular service or product.
Pick the option that fits, then click Next.
4d. Review and create the design
The Review step shows your front design, back design, and card type together. Use the edit links to jump back to any section. When everything looks right, click Create Card Design.
Your new design now appears on the program's Card Design step. Click Continue to move on.
5. Review and create the program
The final step summarizes your program: the program name and logo, country & language, currency, balance limits, and the card design you created. Review the details, then click Create Program.
After you create the program
Once the program is created, you're taken to your dashboard home. From here you can see program activity (gift cards, transactions, liability, redemption rate) and use the quick actions at the top to Create Gift Card, add a New Card Design, Add Location, or Create Incentive. The left sidebar gives you access to gift cards, transactions, locations, reports, and your card assets (card designs, checkout page, wallet page, emails).
FAQ
Can I change the program name or logo later? Yes. Program details can be updated from the dashboard after setup; the wizard just gets you started.
Do I have to create a card design during setup? Yes — a program needs at least one design. You can create additional designs at any time afterward from Card Designs in the sidebar.
What's the difference between "Any Amount" and "Fixed Amount" cards? An Any Amount card is loaded with whatever value the purchaser chooses. A Fixed Amount card is always sold for a set value — useful for gift certificates tied to a specific product or service.
What do the balance limits control? The maximum balance caps how much value a single card can hold. The minimum topup sets the smallest amount a digital card can be purchased for in the online checkout.
Why does the region and currency matter? They set the default language for customer emails and determine the currency of your gift card program.
